Horror Poster - Construction
This is my horror poster construction page. The page will consist of the different I will make in order to create my poster ancillary task.
To start with I need a blank canvas, therefore a black image will be my background for my poster.
I chose a blank canvas for my background as the main image is meant to be hidden, which my viewers will be able to see further in my construction.
My next step will be added the title of my video production to this poster. I want my text to be large and eye catching to the viewer. I have chosen the same text 'The Gonjuring' in the colour red, this links with my video production and my other ancillary text.
When looking at previous horror posters, the majority of them contain the names of the production company, therefore I will add both my production companies into the poster.
I don't want my viewer to become bored of my poster, therefore I want to add something else, however this needs to link with my video production.
A camera lens would fit in perfectly here. This is also where I will be 'hiding' the image of the antagonist. The antagonist in the sense symbolises the plot line. The plot consists of the antagonist spying on the movie's protagonist through web cameras.
Putting my antagonist into the camera lens meant that to balance and colour of the image had to be correct to give the audience the impression that the antagonist was looking through the lens.
To get the image like this I made the layer transparent. I did this by adding a darker shadow using the brush tool and a low opacity.
Most already existing films have a catch line, this helps the audience recognise and remember the production more. By asking the audience a question it gets them thinking about the production and their life. This helps the audience connect to the video on a different level. I have chosen the question 'Do you ever get the feeling you're being watched?' I chose this question as it links to my production and the theme of stalking.
The bottom of my poster still looked empty. To finish my poster I will add information about the two companies at the bottom of the poster. This also helps the audience understand what the two little pictures are and their purpose.
Below is my finished ancillary task.
